De TMA Methode verbindt organisaties met individuele medewerkers, en individuele medewerkers met organisaties. TMA erkent twee domeinen: dat van de Organisatie; inclusief waarden, strategie, visie, doelen, doelstellingen enzovoort, ook bekend als Competentiemanagement, en het domein van het Individu; inclusief talenten, drijfveren, cognitieve capaciteiten, waarden & normen, vaardigheden, ervaring en competenties, bekend als Talentmanagement.
Competenties zijn talenten, drijfveren, vaardigheden en capaciteiten uitgedrukt als waarneembaar gedrag en dragen bij aan de prestaties van zowel individuen als organisaties. Competentiemanagement betreft daarom het domein van de organisatie, waardoor werkgevers duidelijke en beknopte verwachtingen kunnen scheppen met betrekking tot specifieke rollen die gebruikt kunnen worden in werving, selectie, prestaties, ontwikkeling, beoordelingen, compensatie en voordelen.
Individuen verwerven door hun eigen leven en ervaringen natuurlijke talenten, drijfveren en sterktes. Dit resulteert in hun eigen voorkeursgedrag, wat waarneembaar en beheersbaar is. Talentmanagement betreft daarom het domein van het individu.
Talenten zijn de natuurlijke krachten die een persoon gebruikt om onbewust te krijgen wat hij wil. TMA identificeert talenten op 6 dimensies, waaronder:

• Leiderschap
• Organisatorische Talenten
How can an individual add value to an organisation, and where?
Alignment comes when preferred behaviour meets expected behaviour. The alignment of an organisation therefore does not just consider matching the correct person to the correct role in terms of their talents/ skills/ abilities, but also makes sure there are shared values present for longevity and the development of a new collaborative framework with a positive work culture.
TMA understands that If an individual does not hold the same values as the organisation, a good match cannot be made in the long run. Although an individual may have a specific talent, without the necessary drive, there is little chance for development.
A competency (behaviour) is made up of drives, which are interlinked with talents. Behaviours can be learnt and developed, but there must be motivation to do so.
Furthermore, TMA believes each and every Individual should be allowed and encouraged to work from their strengths. By doing so, employers allow an opportunity for Individuals to blossom, which will have positive direct effects on the growth of organisations as a whole.
Competency Management cannot exist without Talent Management, and Talent Management cannot exist without Competency Management.
The TMA Method uses Positive Psychology to report on 22 drives, 44 talents and 53 TMA Competencies.
